Looking through the cooking blog I came across this contest - colorful and tasty - brought by Stephanie of Flavors & Fragrances. The starting point is a study of dietitians and nutritionists, who recommended each day to consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables of different colors. It is therefore not an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but rather something like an apple, a kiwi, a banana, a brunette, a strawberry, a melon ^ _ ^ .. I refer you to Stephen's original post for details!
For myself, I decided to challenge myself with the 'orange ; So here's my proposal:
INGREDIENTS: 150 g pearl barley
3 chicken breasts cut into strips or diced onion
1 grapefruit 00
flour salt oil
First thing, cooked barley covering it with water, salt and bring to a boil in a pot, and when the water boils, reduce heat and continue to cook for 20-30 minutes (I rule "tasting", I have not calculated the exact time required!).
Once cooked, drain and set aside.
Meanwhile in a frying pan, heat the chopped onion with a little oil, add the chicken strips (previously covered in flour), salt and fry for a few seconds before adding the juice of the grapefruit and cover. Continue cooking until the chicken is cooked meal and you will not be mixed with grapefruit juice, forming a very thick creamy sauce.
At this point, in a skip the second pan cooked barley with a little oil for a few minutes before transfer to a platter next to the chicken.
Alternatively, you can use the emptied skins of grapefruit mo 'of bowl:
It' s a dish flavored with a bitter aftertaste but in my opinion very very tasty.
(and then, after the bitterness of grapefruit, hazelnut vasettone that a reward would be just fine there ... ^ _ ^)
